The 5th annual Corporate Chess Challenge

We are pleased to announce the return of the Corporate Chess Challenge tournament on National Chess Day, Saturday, October 9 at a new location--the headquarters of Roche Diagnostics! Teams of four will compete for the prize of being "Indy's Smartest Company," all while raising money for our scholastic programs at Title I schools!

Registration is expected to be live at least six months prior to the event. Registration will be due by October 2, 2027 at 12pm.

Tournament Details:

Date & Venue:
- Saturday, October 9 ("National Chess Day")
- Roche Diagnostics (9115 Hague Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46256)

Schedule:
- Continental Breakfast (Captain check-in) - 8:30-9:00a
- Presentation for all players: 9:00a
- Games (four rounds): 9:20a, 10:30a (followed by lunch break offsite), 12:30p, 1:40p
- Blitz Playoff (if necessary): 2:50p
- Awards Presentation: 3:00p

Competition Design:
- Four-round Swiss style tournament (all teams play all rounds)
- 1 point for team win, 0 for loss, 1/2 for tie/draw - most points wins
- Notation not required (event is "unrated); equipment provided (including chess clocks)
- Time control: 25 minutes per person, with a 5-second bonus after each move

Team Design:
- All four players must be employees (or recent retirees) of same company
- Up to two alternates allowed
- Hybrid teams are possible
